Hunting down Brook for a winner
Back Hunting Brook @ 7/2 in the 16:10 at Huntingdon
Hunting Brook ran a nice enough race on debut for trainer Emma Lavelle, and with his nearest market rival a Warren Greatrex bumper horse - who I tend to take on or oppose, he looks a solid enough option in the closing NHF race on the Huntingdon card.
He finished fourth at Wincanton in a big field that included plenty of runners from top stables, and the third had finished placed in a Punchestown bumper previously. They finished well strung out and the time was a reasonable one considering the soft ground.
Hunting Brook saw a bit of daylight early trapped wide, but his best part of the race came over the far side when effortlessly making up ground to latch to the leading pack.
He cost 90,000 euros and is out of a Grade 1 Auteuil winner Fleur D'Ainay, and I expect him to improve as a Presenting switching to better ground for Friday.
Lavelle has had a couple of bumper winners this season and he should go on a fair bit on his debut run.
Pandemic Princess will get her rewards for consistency
Back Pandemic Princess @ 4/1 in the 19:30 at Dundalk
Off to Dundalk for the second selection and a similar sort of price to the first with 4/1 shot Pandemic Princess, as she takes on her elders for the first time and receives a fair bit of weight.
She struggled in some better races as a juvenile during the turf season, and having tried a variety of trips from 5f to 7f around Dundalk, her trainer Richard O'Brien has possibly found the key to her with tonight's distance at six.
A switch to more positive tactics have certainly helped recently, although she was caught late on over 5f last time out and couldn't back up her previous win over course and distance.
One of her better runs came in defeat in November here, when coming from off the pace and getting going a bit too late. She ran off 58 there and acquitted herself well against a host of 70+ rated performers including Obtain for Ger Lyons who was ahead of her.
Her draw in seven shouldn't be too much of an issue as I prefer horses these days away from the inside rail. Including her puts the Sportsbook double up to around 22.021/1.
