It's the final day of Royal Ascot and Alan Dudman is waiting for the very last two races of the meeting for today's double, boosted to 66/1 on the Betfair Sportsbook...
"He finished second in this race last year to Who Dares Wins and won the Ascot Stakes in 2019. His season so far looks as though it has been primed for this. He ran well at Chester and that most certainly wouldn't be his track and he performed with credit in Group 2 company last time in France."
Can we get Varian right?
17:35 Ascot - Back Alfaadhel
Alfaadhel looked pretty classy winning at Lingfield last time and he can make his mark in the Golden Gates handicap.
Now, there's a caveat here, as I am hopeless with the Roger Varian yard. I managed to get a 4/11 chance of his beat in an acca during the winter, so I am hoping we can turn the form around with today's selection.
He looks a colt of above-average ability with the way he made up ground on the all-weather. A mark of 98 might look a bit stiff, but he could still be a pattern-class performer.
Visir can continue Ascot record
18:10 Ascot - Back The Grand Visir
The Queen Alexandra rounds off Royal Ascot week - and it looks a classy edition. Horses such as Global Heat are in, but the extreme trip could well be beyond him, especially in the ground.
But The Grand Visir ticks a lot of boxes with his ability to stay.
