Al Dudman is hoping to sign off ahead of a summer holiday in style with a massive 125/1 boosted double at Newbury on Tuesday...
"Not a lot went right for him in that race. He was nearly wiped out at the start and raced without any cover over the far side."
A return to Newbury to help
18:30 Newbury - Back Frontispiece
The system of backing top weight in handicaps comes into play today, and with the ground expected to put an emphasis on stamina and last home, Frontispiece ought to give us a run for our money in the best race on the card.
He had been cut on the Sportsbook when looking at the prices early this morning from 10/1 to 17/2.
Firstly, he goes well at Newbury and finished second in better company over 1m6f here last season. That also came in soft ground, so we know he stays well.
His best run of the season was on reappearance, but over 1m2f which was an inadequate test for him. A more taxing race like today's could bring out the best - especially at a track he goes well at.
Get on song with Dunlop
20:05 Newbury - Back Maysong
I can't remember the last time I ever backed an Ed Dunlop runner, let alone a winner, but we'll go with Maysong in the finale. A horse who will enjoy the soft conditions.
He hasn't won for a while and he's been hovering around career low mark territory recently and he produced a decent third at Newmarket last month in good to soft conditions. Not a lot went right for him in that race. He was nearly wiped out at the start and raced without any cover over the far side.
That was from a mark of 69, so it was a little disappointing he couldn't improve at Catterick last time.
I am prepared to give him another chance from a 1lb lower mark as I don't mind backing top weights down in class.
Back the enhanced 125/1 double here.
