Wetherby is the focus for Alan Dudman on Tuesday night and he is backing a pair of Tim Easterby horses in a boosted Sportsbook double...
"This isn't a particularly good race and he's interesting on the pick of his efforts across the channel and his first effort in the UK when fourth at Redcar."
Maximum not the riskiest bet
I don't think I have ever backed a winner at Wetherby. Not a great intro for a tipping column, but then, I don't think I have had many bets at the Yorkshire venue.
But I am a bit of a Tim Easterby groupie/devotee, and his 3yo Maximum Risk can justify his 11/4 price at the head of the betting.
The switch to front-running tactics have worked well having showed an improved piece of form over course and distance in April. He handled the better going on that occasion and gave it a pretty good shot. It wasn't a bad race for the grade either.
He travelled well over the winter to win at Southwell and you need a bit of early speed there, and off the back of two good runs coming into this, he can hopefully start us off on a positive note.
Take two with another Tim runner
We're all in with the chips on Easterby with our second selection Motarajel. And it was great to see some money for him on the Sportsbook from 22/1 to 14/1.
His old French form was a mixed bag ranging from 7f to 1m2f and raced at places like Teste De Buch and Nantes - the latter I heard pronounced once "Nan Tez".
This isn't a particularly good race and he's interesting on the pick of his efforts across the channel and his first effort in the UK when fourth at Redcar. He wasn't given a hard time in that race and is now down a few more pounds to 68.
