Alan Dudman's two bets today are running at Brighton in Monday's enhanced 25/1 Sportsbook double while we're expecting goals at Goodison Park tonight..
"The step up to 6f worked well at Chepstow in the summer, with the extra furlong unlocking some improvement that day and he enjoyed the quick ground. That was something near a personal best winning from a mark of 61."
An inkling for a seaside winner
We're having a look at one of the maiden races at Brighton today and Jim Boyle's Just An Inkling can build on her debut at Epsom two weeks ago, and she can be backed at 9/2 in a race that looks quite open.
Epsom form can translate well to the seaside venue as another switchback track, and the way she stayed on at the end of the race offers up some hope the 7f trip will be no problems. There is also plenty of stamina on her dam side.
The favourite Zain Nibras is only rated 67, so Just An Inkling wouldn't have to be a world-beater to improve on her first start. She did miss the break and got detached early, but as they trapped around Tattenham Corner, she tracked the eventual winner and stayed on with a bit of purpose.
Atty to have the edge on his rivals
Christopher Mason's Atty's Edge is thoroughly exposed but he is holding his form well this season at a low grade and has a good chance of following up his recent Goodwood win today.
The step up to 6f worked well at Chepstow in the summer, with the extra furlong unlocking some improvement that day and he enjoyed the quick ground. That was something near a personal best winning from a mark of 61.
He subsequently didn't stay at Newbury over 7f, but he bounced back to form with a win at Goodwood last time from a wide position and he has only been raised 3lb. He beat an in-form horse in that 0-70 and this afternoon represents a slight drop in class.
It will also be his first run at Brighton. Hopefully he can handle the track.
Daily Multi-Sports Double
Timeform says: "Discomatic takes the eye off bottom weight in this handicap for Andrew Balding. He won a maiden at Chelmsford early in the year during a winter campaign on the all-weather but it took him a while to prove as good on turf. However, he matched his all-weather form with a good effort at Salisbury last time, finishing a close third behind Takeonefortheteam in a handicap for female amateurs. Discomatic looks capable of going close again here off the same mark, this time with Hayley Turner in the saddle."
Mike Norman says: "Going into the weekend only Man City and West Ham had scored more Premier League goals than Everton this season, while Burnley surprisingly sat fourth in the expected goals against (xGA) table, not something you expect from a Sean Dyche side. Maybe the Clarets are in decline, or maybe they are just showing more attacking intent, but whatever the reason Burnley certainly don't look as defensively solid as they have done in the past. For that reason I'm expecting an entertaining game at Goodison Park tonight with at least three goals being scored.
