"He ultimately did well to win as comfortably as he did having endured a troubled passage at Sedgefield last time..."

14:00 - SINGLEFARMPAYMENT (4) went down only narrowly on his most recent outing in the Ultima Handicap at the Festival, producing an exceptionally polished performance for a novice. With the prospect of more to come after just five starts in this sphere, Singlefarmpayment should take plenty of beating and is fancied to make a successful return for the Tom George yard. Coologue has made a winning reappearance for the last two seasons, including in this 12 months ago, and looks likely to emerge as the chief threat, with Perfect Candidate and Doing Fine others to note in this opening leg of the Placepot.

14:35 - BEDROCK (2) had clearly learnt plenty having been set some stiff tasks during the spring, landing back-to-back novice events five months apart and, with further improvement in the offing, he can land the hat-trick. Twobeelucky, who made a most encouraging start to his hurdles career over in Ireland, can pose the chief threat.

15:10 - COBRA DE MAI (11) has had a terrific start to the season, winning four of his five outings. He ultimately did well to win as comfortably as he did having endured a troubled passage at Sedgefield last time, and should prove a tough nut to crack now back in a handicap for the Dan Skelton yard that won with North Hill Harvey here on Friday. DOUBLE W'S (6) should prove all the better for his comeback and is also considered with the Placepot in mind, while Le Prezien leaves the impression he has more to offer over fences.

15:45 - THOMAS CAMPBELL (4) should relish this step up to three miles on his return to action and could be the way to go having shown he can handle big-field handicaps at the spring festivals, including when four and a quarter lengths fifth to subsequent Grade 1 winner Champagne Classic in the Martin Pipe here in March. The really unexposed one is STICK TO THE PLAN (19), who should have made a successful return at Southwell recently and surely has more to give. Quarenta and Whataknight, who shaped as if needing the run on his reappearance at Newton Abbot, also make the shortlist.

16:20 - ALCALA (1) enjoyed a most productive time of things over fences this summer and didn't really get the chance to put Finian's Oscar under pressure at Chepstow two weeks ago (slipped up leaving back straight). He is selected in the hope that hasn't left its mark, with Two Taffs feared most, ahead of Tintern Theatre.

16:55 - ROBBIN'HANNON (4) was only workmanlike when taking care of inferior rivals at Worcester last month, but he sets the clear standard on his runner-up effort in listed company during the spring and he's open to improvement, too. Calett Mad certainly possesses the scope to do better in this sphere given his chase form, so is feared most in this concluding leg of the Placepot.

17:30 - CRACKING DESTINY (5) won an Irish point on his debut in March and is fancied to remain unbeaten having joined Nicky Henderson in the interim, with those that have bumper experience not exactly setting the pulse racing. Ainchea is a likely type on paper too, while Way Out West and Mighty Thunder have to shoulder a penalty, but are capable of getting involved.
