Through The Card: Chelmsford, Tuesday February 27
Timeform take you through the card at Chelmsford on Tuesday...
"...strikes as the type that will continue to progress with racing..."
14:15 - I WAS ONLY JOKING (2) sets a pretty good standard in this line-up and should be able to open her account. She was beaten by a promising newcomer that has won again since over this C&D last time, but she has plenty about her physically, and strikes as the type that will continue to progress with racing. Mark Johnston's Dowitcher was well held on her debut in a soft-ground maiden at Pontefract in August last year, but has an appealing pedigree, and could be seen to better effect switched to the all-weather.
14:45 - This isn't a strong race, but looks trappy, and it could pay to side with OUTLAW TORN (1), who didn't get an easy lead last time, but certainly knows how to get the job done at this level. He is drawn well to attack here under the same jockey that impressively made all on him at Newcastle the time before and he looks the solid play. Babette has shaped well on a couple of occasions and is also a player back up in trip.
15:15 - The one that stands out here is GALA CELEBRATION (4), who was well backed and shaped well on his first start for Ian Williams over this C&D last time, racing freely in rear and finishing well. He is 1 lb below his last winning mark and, in the hope he is ridden more prominently today, should prove hard to beat.
15:45 - It was disappointing that MAMBO DANCER (5) could do no better than third over C&D 12 days ago, but he's certainly not one to give up on at this sort of level for a yard adept at improving similar types. Diaktoros is feared most, though an improved showing from Di's Gift or Galileo's Spear would come as no surprise.
16:15 - JORVIK PRINCE (6) has been thriving all winter and should have more races in him from this sort of mark. He deserved extra credit for finishing as close as he did over this C&D last time, doing best of those that didn't race right on the pace, running on all too late. Jorvik Prince should continue to give a good account and makes more appeal than Shamshon and Deeds Not Words.
16:45 - No surprise were this to develop into a match between CANFORD THOMPSON (2) and Avocet. The latter is sure to be popular under a penalty for Thursday's easy Southwell success, but the former was unlucky not to win at Wolverhampton a day later and is just preferred.
