Timeform take you through the card at Chelmsford on Thursday evening.
17:45 - SMUGGLERS TOP (2) showed a lot more back from a gelding operation when a close fourth at Chepstow last time and could be the way to go dropped into a claimer in first-time cheekpieces. One For June is feared most ahead of Alaska.
18:15 - PRETTY BABY (7) shaped well when half a length second to May Girl on debut at York and looks sure to improve upped in trip here with Ryan Moore on board. She is by far the most obvious selection with the Placepot in mind, with Havana Heart likely to emerge as the chief threat.
18:45 - MORLOCK (1) was disappointing when well held in the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket last time, but he may have been unsuited by the undulating track, and this represents a significant drop in grade. The return to the all-weather is expected to be in his favour, and he looks sure to be thereabouts for the Godolphin operation, who also hold sound claims with the appealing newcomer Welsh Lord.
19:15 - BOYNTON (5), who had some smart sorts behind him when winning last year's Superlative Stakes at Newmarket, is taken to overcome a lengthy absence with success dropped in class here. Victory Bond was possibly unsuited by conditions when well held in Superior Mile at Haydock last time, and could easily bounce back, while Murad Khan would be dangerous if rediscovering his peak form.
19:45 - PRETTY PASSE (5) has produced a fairly useful level of form in his four starts to date, and ran respectably after six weeks off when second at Lingfield last time, just bumping into an above-average newcomer on the day. That form gives him the edge over Footman on Timeform ratings here and, with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle once more, Pretty Passe looks a worthy favourite, and is fancied to gain the win his consistency deserves for the in-form William Haggas.
20:15 - KOHINOOR DIAMOND (1) showed much improved form to get off the mark on handicap debut over C&D last week, and looks one that could stay ahead of the handicapper for quite a while. She is fancied to defy a 6 lb penalty for the Sir Mark Prescott yard in this concluding leg of the Placepot, with Master of Heaven and Tommy's Secret heading the list of dangers.
20:45 - CALIFORNIA CLIFFS (10) returned to form when second at this C&D last month and is taken to go one better. The Juggler may be able to build on his recent win, while Chilli Jam should prove suited by dropping back to this trip.
21:15 - KNIGHT COMMANDER (1) may be capable of translating his improved showing over hurdles for this yard to the Flat and shades the vote in the finale. Some of Starshell's early-season form reads well, and he should not be written off just yet moving up in trip.
