Timeform take you through the card at Chelmsford on Thursday.
17:25 - MCCOOLS GOLD (8) benefited from an enterprising ride when winning on his final start for Eve Johnson Houghton last season but showed improved form nonetheless. He starts life for Alan King with plenty of potential in tact, and is expected to go well. BAMAKO DU CHATELET (1) is fairly established at this sort of level and will be vulnerable to improvers, but did shape better than the bare result last time at Wolverhampton when fourth, and probably remains on a competitive mark.
17:55 - HISTORIC EVENT (7) was far from the finished article when finishing second on her debut last time at Wolverhampton and, with a useful pedigree behind her, should improve with that under her belt. If doing so, she will be hard to beat, though Fair Cop is bred to be sharp and is an unknown quantity on her debut.
18:30 - UDONTDODOU (8) was developing into a smart horse at the beginning of last season before losing his way somewhat, but is well worth another chance to build on that considerable promise off the back of a break (won when fresh last season) for a yard who have started the season well.
19:05 - A tight race, though a gelding operation could have worked well in the case of RAUCOUS (6), who looked talented, if a tad quirky, last season. ABSOLUTELY SO (4) will want them to go a good clip here but does have some strong form from last season himself and could get involved having seemingly needed the run last time.
19:40 - COMEDY SCHOOL (13) should be effective on this surface given her pedigree and should be well capable of bouncing back from a below-par effort in a listed race when she was last seen. Her handicap win prior to that had been impressive, and despite a wide draw, she is worth including for the Placepot. Also worth including is GHALIB (5) who has a good record fresh and is on a workable mark on the balance of his form.
20:15 - NORTH CREEK (5) progressed well last season despite the quiet spell that Chris Wall seemed to be having, and is worth chancing at double-figure odds here given how well he shaped on his penultimate start (finished strongly after having a less-than-ideal passage earlier in the race).
20:45 - Nearly all of these are open to further improvement and this looks like it will be a strong race on paper. Mystique Moon is well bred and looked a useful prospect when winning on handicap debut at Newcastle last time. He could be the answer now back off a break.
