"...he is 3 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings and may yet prove capable of better..."

Timeform on Doc Carver

14:10 - ROCKU (10) has travelled powerfully for a long way on both outings for Dan Skelton so this drop in trip should suit and he can strike at the third time of asking for his new yard. Cottonvale is a long-standing maiden but arrives in good form and is likely to go well again. Midnight Walk posted a decent first effort for Julia Brooke and also makes the shortlist.

14:40 - LE DRAPEAU (7) had dropped markedly in the weights and duly left his previous efforts in this sphere behind when second at Wetherby on Boxing Day, keeping on well to be beaten only three and three quarter lengths. That form sets the standard on weight-adjusted ratings here, and with further progress on the cards after just three starts over fences, Le Drapeau would appear to hold sound claims of registering a belated first win under Rules, as long as he is fully wound up after his two-month absence.

15:10 - RIVER GLADES (6) shaped encouragingly on hurdles debut at Newcastle a month ago, and given his Flat ability, there should be plenty more to come in this sphere. He's been found a weak race so is expected to get off the mark, with For Three the obvious threat.

15:45 - LORD GETAWAY (9) looks one to be positive about and a 10 lb rise may not prevent the hat-trick. Donna's Delight seems a fairly assured jumper and is likely to be on the premises again, while Petiville could also be a factor following an encouraging run at Kelso 10 days ago.

16:15 - GREGARIOUS (1) could be worth chancing for the in-form Lucy Wadham yard (four winners from last 19 runners), in a race where the majority of them have questions to answer at present. Admittedly, he has been out of sorts himself for most of the campaign, but there was more encouragement to be taken form his latest effort at Lingfield, and he looks to have plenty in his favour if building on that; this represents a significant drop in grade and he is now 3 lb below his last winning mark, with Maxime Tissier taking a further 5 lb off his back, too.

16:45 - DOC CARVER (1) showed much improved form to open his account under Rules at Chepstow last time, always jumping soundly in the hands of Jeremiah McGrath and battling well in the straight to get the better of a sustained duel with the runner-up. That rival gave the form a boost when subsequently winning from 5 lb higher at Huntingdon, and Doc Carver looks difficult to oppose as he attempts to defy a 6 lb rise of his own here; he is 3 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings and may yet prove capable of better after only three starts in this sphere.

17:15 - STAINSBY GIRL (1) possesses a fair amount of ability on the evidence of her C&D bumper win in December, so is worth siding with to successfully concede a penalty. Lugg River is a danger on her Ludlow form, with Tortuga Bay another to consider following her point victory.
