With Carlisle the only domestic meeting on Sunday, Nick Shiambouros returns with two selections from the border course...
"This was a classic case of not staying the trip and this run is best forgotten"
Rock to deliver
15:50 Carlisle - Rock On Fruity
Rock On Fruity can bounce back to form in this Veterans' Handicap Chase.
Last time out in the Eider Chase at Newcastle he was in contention four from home, but began to tire and finished well beaten. This was a classic case of not staying the trip and this run is best forgotten. He won his two previous starts in great style, and has found a new lease of life since joining Ben Haslam at the beginning of the season. He is attractively priced at [6.8] on the exchange.
Straidnahanna merits consideration. He has come down in the weights and is on a winnable mark now. He should handle the testing conditions and is fairly priced at [7.8] on the exchange.
Full House for Bingo
16:25 Carlisle - Bingo D' Olivate
Bingo D'Olivate is the safest option in this handicap hurdle.
This gelding beat Hot Gossip in heavy ground at Ayr last November. Making his first start for trainer James Ewart, he put his rivals to the sword with a workmanlike victory. On his latest start at Newcastle he was a tad disappointing when finishing down the field behind Green Zone, but had a valid excuse. He refused to settle, and paid the price three from home. Hopefully he will relax today and make a bold bid. At present he is trading at [5.4] on the exchange which is about right.
Theatre Act is worth a mention. She has won off a much higher mark, but has disappointed the last twice. This race will not take a lot of winning, and could surprise at a price if returning to form. At present she is trading at [15.5] on the exchange.
