NAP: Dear My Friend can double up
Dear My Friend - 17:10 Beverley
Dear My Friend created a good impression when making a successful debut at Carlisle three weeks ago, only winning by half a length but looking value for extra after being caught further back than ideal.
That form sets the standard in this line-up and there should be lots more to come from him, particularly now stepping up to seven furlongs.
The Johnston yard has won three of the last six renewals of this novice event and Dear My Friend rates a confident selection to defy a penalty and maintain his unbeaten record.
NEXT BEST: Iron Sheriff fancied to shine
Iron Sheriff - 19:45 Beverley
Iron Sheriff produced his best effort for a while when filling the runner-up spot at Newcastle last time, staying on well to pass the post less than a length behind the winner.
That was a big step in the right direction and a 3 lb rise in the weights is unlikely to prove beyond him if building on that run.
After all, Iron Sheriff was competitive from even higher marks earlier in his career and Jonny Peate, who is good value for his 5 lb claim, also takes over in the saddle today.
EACH-WAY: Stripzee could surprise
Stripzee - 17:45 Beverley
Stripzee needs to bounce back from a below-par display at Redcar last time, but this is a much weaker race in which she could be worth another chance.
She achieved a fair level of form in a busy two-year-old campaign and a BHA mark of 57 is potentially very lenient judged on the pick of those efforts.
For context, Stripzee was beaten just a head off 64 as recently as September, so it's surely only a matter of time before she resumes winning ways if bouncing back to her best.
