Nick Shiambouros hopes to end his current stint in the tipping chair with a couple of winners from the outstanding York card...
"He will handle the rain softened conditions, and represents good value at [7.6] on the exchange"
Rekindling is taken to win this intriguing contest.
This High Chaparral colt put in a much improved effort when beating Douglas Macarthur in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown last month. He took the lead inside the final furlong, and kept on strongly to score decisively. There was much to like about his performance, and this well related individual should make his presence felt today. He will handle the rain softened conditions, and represents good value at [7.6] on the exchange.
Cracksman is the favourite at [4.1]. This colt got up on the line to beat Permian in the Derby Trial at Epsom last month. He is open to significant improvement, and should handle the ground. He is the main danger to the selection.
Ardad can upset the favourite in this Listed event.
This speedy performer beat Legendary Lunch in the Flying Chiders at Doncaster last September. He ran on strongly inside the final furlong and got up near the finish. Trainer John Gosden then ran him in the L'Abbaye and was not disgraced behind Marsha. I think he is capable of carrying the 5lb penalty, and is fairly priced at [3.8] on the exchange.
Brian the Snail heads the market at [1.91]. This progressive colt is unbeaten in three starts and is the big improver in the race. He won a handicap at Pontefract in great style last month, and clearly has a lot more to offer. This is tougher, and is a little short in the market in my opinion.
