An unlucky day for Alan yesterday, with his advised 14/1 selection Pearl Spectre beaten a neck at [1.10] in-running. He hopes for better on Monday with two win selections at Windsor...
"Rain is forecast, so there are no problems with the ground (which was soft at the time of writing). He does stay a bit further than today's distance too."
15:10 Windsor - Mikmak to love the soft conditions
Mikmak was very unlucky last time at Nottingham, and despite the fact he hasn't won since his juvenile days, he rates the bet for this 0-85 handicap.
The four-year-old is a bit of an in-and-out character, but really should have won at Colwick Park when flashing home - he just didn't get a clear run when he had the momentum.
Consistency isn't his strong point, but his two runner-up positions earlier in the season at Leicester and Bath both came in soft conditions, and he certainly handles ground with plenty of cut. More rain could be on its way today.
His trainer William Muir is in form; he's fired in three winners from his previous five runners. From a good mark of 74 and a decent draw on the inside, he can give us a run for our money.
16:40 Windsor - It will be worth the wait if Howard wins today
If you are an in-running layer at short prices - then Green Howard is the horse for you. From his last five starts, he has been beaten in-play at [1.29], [1.60], [1.04] and [1.90].
The veteran hasn't won for an absolute age (40 runs), but I am prepared to give him a chance in his favoured conditions.
His latest efforts include a pair of seconds both at Ayr in soft and heavy, and last time in really deep ground he travelled very smoothly. Unfortunately he just wouldn't go past, so it will be a challenge for David Probert to time this right.
Rain is forecast, so there are no problems with the ground (which was soft at the time of writing). He does stay a bit further than today's distance too. He can win off this mark of 58 and is drawn on the inside. You might just want to consider placing some insurance.
