Both of Alan's selections found their way to the winners enclosure yesterday and now he's looking to add to those profits with two more from Chepstow and Kempton...
"Dropped 9lbs since he first entered handicapping company and if the three-year-old colt is ever going to get involved, today is the day"
Its hard to keep Is It Off out the frame
This race isn't going to live long in the memory but Gary Moore may have found an excellent chance to finally get Is it Off in the winners enclosure or at least make the places.
Jockey Adam Kirby has been asked to do the steering, who is in good form and for the first time cheekpieces have been applied to try and get a response from this seven start maiden. He has dropped 9lbs since he first entered handicapping company and if the three-year-old colt is ever going to get involved in the business end of the race then this Class 6 race has to be his chance.
Looking at the rest of the field its hard to keep him out the frame and with nine runners going to post he looks a good each way option. Their are two horses he will have to get the better of if he is to win it, in the shape of He's Our Star and Silverturnstogold but I will be amazed if anything else finishes ahead of him.
He's Our Star is the worthy favourite and most likely winner he won well over this trip at Newbury in late June and ran an even better race when a two length fourth over an inadequate seven furlongs at the same course last month in a far better contest than this. the step back up to a mile will suit.
Summer Blossom can get the better of the favourite
There is an interesting Novices race at Kempton this evening where the favourite, Deira Surprise is sure to be popular among punters. Hugo Palmer's charge only found a subsequent Group 3 winner too good on debut, but her second start at Thirsk where she was sent off the 4/11 favourite was poor, she could only finish fourth of nine starters that day and for me she needed to have done more to justify her low price here. Therefore, I would prefer to take her on with Summer Blossom from the Archie Watson yard.
This daughter of Society Rock, has the experience factor, posting three good efforts thus far over six furlongs and this step up in distance looks ideal, she kept running all the way to the line over six furlongs last time out. Unless their is a real plunge on something else in the race, she looks the one to take on the favourite, connections are simply flying at present, she is the most experienced runner in the field and can put that to good use tonight.
