A 6/1 winner at Bangor-on-Dee produced another winning day for Alan yesterday. He is looking to keep the run going with two from Wetherby and Hamilton Park...
"there could still be more to come from this five-year-old son of Dubawi and conditions today will favour Aasheq"
Aasheq seems to have come on huge strides since leaving the Dermot Weld yard, he failed to get his head in front in seven starts for the Weld team and was sold to Tim Easterby for just 5,500 guineas in October. After having a wind operation he made a promising debut run for the Easterby yard at Newcastle in April, where he finished third over one mile and two furlongs, then reappeared at Chester last month and won what appeared to be somewhat easily. He has to carry an extra 6lbs for that success but there could still be more to come from this five-year-old son of Dubawi.
His biggest threat today looks like coming from Zabeel Star from the Karen McLintock yard, he is also running under a penalty after being raised 7lbs for his win here last month. After running well in two starts at Newcastle in March his next two starts were disappointing, but he bounced back to form when winning here last time out. There may well be more to come from him but he is running off a career high mark today and I just think conditions today will favour Aasheq more.
Brian Ellison's six-year-old mare Our Kylie hasn't been seen since on the flat last July but she arrives here after winning three of her last four starts and is seeking a hat-trick after producing back-to-back wins at Ripon and Carlisle. Since then she has been keeping fit by running in decent form over hurdles, including finishing a close second at Towcester just two weeks ago.
She obviously has no problem getting the trip and has a good 3lb claimer on her back in Ben Robinson. She gets in here off a mark of 64 which is only 2lbs higher than her victory at Carlisle so with Bens allowance she has to be a major player here.
