Bets of the Day: O'Meara's charge will need to Brave but has the class

Horses passing the winning post
Its been a long time since Bravery enjoyed that winning feeling

Alan has two more selections today from Nottingham and Fakenham, where he is hoping a previous Lincoln winner can rediscover his winning form and the other can get the better of a very short priced favourite...

"He has shown some bits and pieces of form this year and dropping into this company could be just what he needs to get going again."

Back Bravery @ 4/1 in the 13:40 at Nottingham

The 2017 Lincoln winner could be too good for these

Nottingham 13:40

The class act in the field is David O'Meara's five-year-old Bravery who has fallen 15lbs below his mark when landing the 2017 Lincoln. He drops into Class 4 company for the first time and could be too classy for this field. He has had 18 starts since his famous victory and failed to get his head back in front, he clearly has the ability but just seems to have lost his way. He has shown some bits and pieces of form this year and dropping into this company could be just what he needs to get going again.

The big danger looks to come in the shape of Bobby K, he has won two of his five starts, but to date all his wins have come on the all weather. He makes his turf debut today after a comfortable handicap win at Chelmsford. The two issues I have with the market favourite is that Simon Crisford's charge has a 5lb increase in the weights to carry and is unknown on the turf, clearly if neither of them are reasons for concern he is the one Bravery will have to beat.

Knocknanuss might just give the short priced jolly something to think about

Fakenham 14:30

I want to take on the very short priced Movewiththetimes favourite at Fakenham; though admittedly he clearly sets the standard in the race based on his smart novice form from last season. All his chases to date have been at Cheltenham and while the form looks pretty solid and is working out well he isn't a straightforward ride and was hugely disappointing when jumping poorly behind The Storyteller in March. He is definitely a worthy favorite and is going to be hard to beat but he looks a bit too short in the market for me.

I want to take him on with Knocknanuss, the eight-year-old had some very useful form over hurdles, including winning a handicap here at Fontwell. Unfortunately, he opened his chasing career with a fall at Plumpton last time out when racing far too keenly. I am sure the Gary Moore team will have been working to correct his jumping and traveling issues, if he has learned from that experience he could give Movewiththetimes a bit to do and if he puts in a decent performance he could still have a promising chasing career and remains a good prospect.
