Alan's best bet of the day was a Roger Varian-trained winner at Newcastle yesterday, and today he is sticking with the in-form trainer who has two more interesting runners at Lingfield and Kempton...

"I am prepared to give him a chance to rediscover that three-year-old York form, which would be good enough to see these off."

Back West Drive @ 4/1 in the 15:10 Lingfield

15:10 Lingfield - Back West Drive @ 4/1

West Drive looked like he was destined for bigger and better things when he ran a career best on his forth start at York where he finished third, finishing just two lengths behind Mister Blueyes, that turned out to be a very decent contest, where many of the runners went on to win races on the flat or over hurdles. However, he didn't seem to improve as much as he maybe should have from that though and it took another three races for him to finally get his head in front in a low quality maiden at Windsor.

He will find winning this much tougher today but with Cameron Noble taking a handy 7lb off, I am prepared to give him a chance to rediscover that three-year-old York form, which would be good enough to see these off.

19:40 Kempton - Back Wadigor @ 11/8

Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's son of Champs Elysees Wadigor is certainly a short price to win this Kempton handicap, but this unbeaten four-year-old colt absolutely hosed up on handicap debut at Newmarket on his last start as a three-year-old, he won a Class 4 handicap by 7 lengths with ease. It is of no surprise to see him raised 15lbs in the handicap given the style of that victory, where he could be spotted travelling ominously a long way out, he was then able to quicken away in impressive fashion. The further they went that day the further he went clear under just a hands and heels ride, suggesting there should be plenty more to come this season now stepped up in trip again.

Harry Bentley gets the leg up tonight and he is also familiar with the horse, having already won on him on his racecourse debut. Everything seems to be in place for Wadigor to make it a hatrick of wins before he moves onto the turf and surely some higher profile contests this summer.
