Bets of the Day: Fikhaar can take the lucky last at Chelmsford

Both of Alan's selections yesterday finished second, he is looking to get back into the winners enclosure with two selections from Chelmsford and Warwick...

21:10 Chelmsford - Back Fikhaar @ 4/1

Hopefully this is worth waiting all day for, in the final race of the day Kevin Ryan runs his three-year-old filly Fikhaar and I think he may have found a very weak handicap to allow the filly to break her maiden tag. This daughter of Oasis Dream is running off a mark of 55 and she ran well in defeat finishing fourth on her handicap debut over seven furlongs at Newcastle. She looked like she was coming with a strong challenge a couple of furlongs out but just ran out of steam and got passed by a couple of staying on runners in the final furlong.

Tonight she has a plumb draw, the drop down to six furlongs should suit and the polytrack surface won't disadvantage her. She will again race prominently and providing she settles better than she did at Newcastle, she will have enough left in reserve to see out this six furlongs allowing her to get her head in front where it matters.

16:35 Warwick - Back Billy Two Tounges @ 13/2

Jeremy Scott's nine-year-old Billy Two Tounges returned from a 321 day break to run a close fourth in a competitive handicap chase at Worcester in July. He then followed that up with a more than respectable run again at Uttoxter two weeks later. Despite his age he is still relatively unexposed over fences and was obviously fancied last time out at Uttoxeter and was sent off the 3.55/2 joint favourite, but that may have been a race to early for him, now that he's at full fitness.

He won his first two starts over fences early last season and finished second in a better quality race than this prior to being pulled up where something obviously wasn't right with him. He looks like he might be coming back to his best now and if he is he could be well treated off 116. I think at the prices he is worth giving a chance today with Robert Hawker taking off 7lbs.
