Bets of the Day: Le Breuil to prove her debut win was no fluke

The french bred Le Breuil already has a lofty reputation

Alan's selections today come from the Bumper at Bangor and an old friend who goes at Chepstow...

"Ben Pauling's charge, Le Breuil has already drawn attention with an impressive debut win and he looks more than capable of going in again at this level"

Back Le Breuil @ 11/4 in the 16:45 Bangor

16:45 Bangor - Back Le Breuil @ 11/4

Le Breuil was well supported on his debut and repaid that faith with an easy 10 lengths win at Warwick of his only start to date back in May. Ben Pauling's charge has already drawn attention with that impressive win and he looks more than capable of going in again at this level, even under today's penalty. Talk of the Champion Bumper may be a bit premature but the fact that has even been mentioned as an alternative to going novice hurdling shows the high expectations the stable have for him.

It has also been reported that he has had a few hold-ups in his development but I expect they are all behind him now and he should be hard to beat in this company.

The best of the rest could be Bastien who also showed plenty of promise when finishing fourth in a race that has already produced multiple winners. So there is every reason to expect a good performance from Bastien, and while the market will give us some clues I don't think he will have enough to beat Le Breuil today.

14:00 Chepstow - Back Bells of Ailsworth @ 4/1

Tim Vaughan's six-year-old Kayf Tara gelding Bells of Ailsworth was a winner for me last time out at Huntingdon (see here). Champion jockey Richard Johnson gets the leg up again, the extra distance shouldn't be a problem and I think he is more than capable of going in on his first run over fences today.

Highway Storm is the market principle and off a mark of 112 he could certainly be well treated based on the way he won a handicap hurdle at Ffos Las in March. That was his last appearance on the course and while I am confident that Rebecca Curtis will have him ready for today he may lack a little bit of fitness and could be one to keep an eye out for next time out.

Back Bells of Ailsworth @ 4/1 in the 14:00 Chepstow
