Bets of the Day: Loumarin has dropped to a winnable mark

Loumarin ran well last time out and it could be her turn today.

Both of Alan's selections made the frame again yesterday but unfortunately neither made the winners enclosure. Today it is Catterick and Nottingham that has grabbed his attention...

Catterick 15:15 - Loumarin @ 6/1 Sportsbook

Mick Appleby runs his charge Loumarin in this five furlong sprint at Catterick. The four-year-old filly has won three times, all three successes coming over this trip, once on good to firm ground and twice on the all weather.

She ran well last time at Nottingham, from 3lbs out of the handicap to finish third and she has slowly been dropping down in class and rating. Today I think she has dropped low enough to get her head back in front again. She runs off 57 in this Class 6 event having previously won off 66 and 63 in Class 5 company.

Compton River is the current favourite for the race after achieving his first win in 25 starts last time out at Beverley. When he won that race three weeks ago he unfortunately beat my best Bet of the Day, Tinsill by half a length (Tinsill - bet of the day).

I didn't fancy Compton River that day and I don't fancy him again here. He isn't exactly straight forward and now up in the weights after that win, I am happy to take him on with Loumarin, who I would be surprised with if he doesn't shorten in the market before the off.

Nottingham 19:35 - Balance @ 5/2 Sportsbook

Richard Fahey's lightly raced, well bred three-year-old filly Balance looks to have a good opportunity here to get her second win on the board. She was an impressive winner on her racecourse debut at Haydock as a juvenile and was then off the track for 269 days before returning at Ayr last month, where she finished third beaten by Naggers, who franked that form winning again at Hamilton on Saturday.

That run at Ayr will have freshened her up after her long break and off a mark of 73 with the assistance of the excellent Adam McNamara claiming a very useful 5lbs, she has to be the one to beat here.
