Bets of the Day: I am expecting Some Finish in the 13:10 at Towcester

Some Finish is weighted to win this

It's Alan Thompson's final day in the tipping chair for this stint, and our man has two selections from the national hunt meeting at Towcester...

"Only one of his previous 14 chase starts has he started off a mark less than 80, a race he won off 77"

Back Some Finish @ 4/1 in the 13:10 Towcester

13:10 Towcester - Back Some Finish @ 4/1

This certainly doesn't look the strongest of fields for this two mile five furlong chase at Towcester and that might give Robin Dickin and Some Finish a good chance of picking this up. He is a three-time winner over fences, two of which were off marks higher than today's rating of 80, including a win here. Only one of his previous 14 chase starts has he started off a mark less than 80, a race he won off 77.

The one it looks like he will have to beat is Classic Jewel from the Evan Williams yard, his third last time was a decent performance and the drop in trip looks like it will suit. But he was a beaten favourite on his last run and I think he could repeat that feat again today, he is running off 86 today and that is 4lbs higher than his only previous win, I am prepared to take him on with Some Finish today.

13:40 Towcester - Back Who's My Jockey @ 2/1

Philip Hobbs looks to have a good chance in this with the current market favourite Who's My Jockey, the four-year-old well bred gelding (closely related to Hurricane Fly) probably has more to offer after he improved again after a good hurdling debut to win a Uttoxeter Novice earlier in the month. While winning a novice hurdle isn't anything special a mark of 123 on handicap debut doesn't seem too harsh for the Paul and Clare Rooney owned horse and he remains with potential, and I expect he will be aimed at much bigger and better races in the future.

I think Brown Bear looks like he could give the selection the most to do after he put in a decent performance at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance and Nick Gifford's six-year-old is now unbeaten in three and has won four of his last five. But there should be plenty more to come from Who's My Jockey and he's selected to make light of an opening handicap mark in the 123.
