Bets of the Day: Lady Alavesa looks to be off a very winnable mark.

Lady Alavesa will be doing her best work late to get up

Alan's best bet of the day won at an amazing industry starting price of 9.0 yesterday. For his final selections this week he is looking to increase those profits with two from Yarmouth and Wetherby...

"The drop back into this grade will suit, as will the 2lbs drop in the weight."

Back Lady Alavesa @ 7/2 in the Yarmouth 15:50

The race could be run to suit Lady Alavesa

Yarmouth 15:50

This low grade handicap could well go the way of Gay Kelleway's four-year-old filly Lady Alavesa. She looks to be off a good mark (65) and Grace McEntee, who rode her last time as well, is taking an additional 7lbs off her back. She was far from disgraced in that last start, a Class 4 handicap at Ascot and the drop back into this grade will suit, as will the 2lbs drop in the weight making her now below her last winning mark. She has been running well of late and there isn't a great deal of depth in this race, she is usually ridden off the pace and the likely strong pace could well play into her hands.

I want to take on the favourite and winner on Tuesday, Couldn't Could She, Adam West's filly was well backed before winning on Tuesday so the market may well be the best indicator as to how she has come out of that race. Obviously if she has come out of it well, she is a major danger but she will have to do it under a penalty and with Edward Greatrex on board she won't have the benefit this time of any amateur jockey allowances.

Hector's Here and ready to win

Wetherby 16:40

Hector's Here may not have managed to get his head in front yet but he has shown improvement with each of his five starts and today is the day he can make it into the winners enclosure. The colt can defy a 3lb rise and go in here after finishing a close up fourth on handicap debut and finished second here over course and distance last month.

He wasn't beaten far at all that day and the third home has franked the form of the race by winning from 2lbs higher. Based on that performance, Ivan Furtado's charge wouldn't need to improve too much today and can continue his progress with the first win of his career.
