Bets of the Day: Impulsive American is hard to ignore at Perth

Impulsive American is well handicapped today
Impulsive American is well handicapped today

A disappointing day yesterday for Alan, with both selections finishing fourth and not performing as expected. On his final day in the chair for this week, he has two selections from Perth and Market Rasen...

"The gelding can run in this race without a penalty for that success, as it was a conditional jockeys contest and that allows him to run off the same mark as Saturday 120."

David Pipe is wasting no time in getting his four-year-old Impulsive American back on the track again after winning impressively at Ayr on Saturday. The gelding can run in this race without a penalty for that success, as it was a conditional jockeys contest and that allows him to run off the same mark as Saturday, 120. The very accomplished and his regular partner, David Noonan is also able to take 5lbs off for his allowance.

He is looking to complete a Scottish hat-trick after already winning at Musselburgh and of course Ayr this season. His six length win at Ayr on Saturday was also in a class three contest, this is a drop in class today as well. I wouldn't want to be backing him at anything shorter than the 9/4 available at the Sportsbook but with plenty in his favour he is certainly the one to beat.

18:20 Market Rasen - Quinto @ 5/1 Sportsbook

John Quinn only has the one runner today in Quinto and he is sending him to Market Rasen, a track where he has a very decent 21% strike rate and shows a healthy £13 P&L (£1 stakes) on his runners.

Quinto won a pretty decent class four novice hurdle at the turn of the year at Carlisle, where the second and the third have since come out and won. However, in his last two starts, in handicap company, he hasn't been able to reproduce that form finishing a long way behind in two class three events.

He drops back to class four company today and Danny Cook has the leg up for the first time on him. The market at least liked him last time as he was sent off favourite at Carlisle, where he finished third of eight in a better race than this. I am hoping he can recapture the form he showed in January and if he does he could go very well here at 5/1.
