Bets of the Day: Un Anjou can make the handicapper look foolish at Ludlow

Its been a long time since he last won but today could be his day
Its been a long time since he last won but today could be his day

Alan had a winner and a second from his two selections yesterday and is looking to finish his week in the chair with two winners from Ludlow and Chelmsford...

"7lbs lower than his first race back and 11lbs lower than his last win, he could be very well weighted in this contest."

Back Un Anjou @ 9/2 in the 14:25 Ludlow

14:25 Ludlow - Back Un Anjou @ 4/1

It has been a while since Un Anjou won a race (Dec 2014) but he did have 462 days off the track between Aug 2015 and Nov 2016, on his return he ran a big race finishing second in a race where the winner, Colin's Brother, has gone onto bigger and better things winning a Class 2 event at this track off a mark of 121. In his two other starts since that race he finished third and sixth respectively and the handicapper has dropped him to 108, that's 7lbs lower than his first race back and 11lbs lower than his last win, he could be very well weighted in this contest.

His last run was over two miles three furlongs is interesting though, that trip was always going to test his stamina and once he was headed four out his race was over, as a result he finished in his own time a long way behind the winner but got a nice 5lbs drop in the weights. He returns today to two miles, the distance all three of his wins have come over and the appointment of Aidan Coleman by David Dennis is also eyecatching. Aidan has three mounts at Ludlow today but if he is to get a winner out of the day then this looks like his best chance.

18:25 Chelmsford - Back Threebagsue Each Way @ 12/1

I am hoping that all eight runners go to post for this selection but I can't let Threebagsue go unbacked at such a big price. She has won five times on the all weather including winning here over course and distance in December off a mark of 74, she runs today off 72, her last three wins have been off 74, 76 and 72. Lulu Stanford rode her to victory last time and she is in the plate again today, claiming her very useful 5lb allowance.

In her last race was at Wolverhampton she finished fifth of six runners, but that was in a Class 3 £10,000 race, despite finishing second last she was still within three lengths of the winner and she was sent off for that much tougher race at 8/1 - almost half the price she is currently available for this Class 6 race at Chelmsford City. Also, her record in this company is excellent, she has ran in five Class 6 races on the all weather, winning on her last four attempts. There are some fairly useful horses in this Claimer, which is why I want all eight to go to post, but I just think she is the wrong price here and I have to back her at each way at 12/1.
