Bets of the Day: Its time for King Oswald to reward his followers

Passing the winning post
King Oswald has won at Yarmouth before

Alan's each way selection yesterday made the frame at Chepstow and with another busy racing schedule today he is looking to get the day off to a flyer with two runners from the afternoon meetings at Brighton and Yarmouth...

"He gets in here of the same mark as last time and having won previously off 9lbs higher"

Back King Oswald @ 10/3 in the 15:20 at Yarmouth (Sportsbook)

King Oswald can reign supreme at Yarmouth

James Unett may not have a huge string of runners but his last three starters have all finished second and I am hoping that he can go one place better today with his ultra consistent King Oswald.

He is a course winner and was a good second in handicap company at this course just nine days ago, where he was running on at the end of the race. He gets in here of the same mark as last time and having won previously off 9lbs higher, I think he is well worth following at 10/3.

The favourite in the race is Oakley Mimosa and she certainly looks like the main danger to the selection. She was second on her handicap debut, beaten only by a horse who was given a very soft lead and made the most of it.

The lightly raced maiden is potentially still improving and gets in here off the same mark today, with connections in great form she is certainly the one to beat but she was sent off favourite the last time and found one too good. I am hoping history repeats itself and James Unett's team are rewarded with a long overdue trip to the winners enclosure.

Wiley Post is the best of Tony Carroll's trio

Tony Carroll is responsible for half the field here and his main chance looks to come in the shape of Wiley Post, who made a winning reappearance after a 238 day break at Windsor in April and he has not been disgraced in two starts since.

Those last two starts were also in better company than this and it is worth noticing that his last two wins have come in this grade. He also has the services of in form jockey Jason Watson so everything looks to be in place a for a big run today.

My main concern for Wiley Post is that this is his first trip around Brighton and I would have been much happier had he already been around the track. I consider King Crimson as the main threat to the selection and course experience is something he will certainly have no problem with.

The triple course and distance winner has been in good form this summer but he has also been handed a 4lb hike in the weights for his latest effort at Leicester. He has won off higher than todays mark before so its probably not too much of an issue for him, but it certainly won't help and back in this grade I believe Wiley Post is the one to be on.
