Bets of the Day: Top Tug looks sure to progress again today

Top Tug could be an interesting novice this season
Top Tug could be an interesting novice this season

A winner and a second from Alan's two selections yesterday, he is looking to keep the winners coming with two from Huntingdon today...

"Today he is back over two miles and at one of the King teams best tracks, they have a 33% strike rate over the last 12 months at Huntingdon"

14:30 Huntingdon - Back Top Tug @ 9/4

Top Tug runs in the colours of the Elite Racing Club and was an £80,000 purchase from Sir Michael Stoute and the plan was always for him to go hurdling. However, Alan King decided to keep him on the flat to preserve his novice status for this season, which has proved to be beneficial, winning a quality flat race at Lingfield and then finishing third in a valuable race at York's Dante meeting.

Then in his first start over hurdles he was sent off a very short priced favourite at Kempton and won over two miles with seemingly plenty still left in the tank. King was quoted as saying "He will stay further in time but he is not slow and there is no rush to step him up in trip". Today he is back over two miles and at one of the King team's best tracks, they have a 33% strike rate at Huntingdon over the last 12 months, with 9 winners and 11 placed from the last 27 runners they have sent to the track.

14:00 Huntingdon - Back More Of That @ 4/1

This is a cracking renewal of this race, with some quality horses in the line up. But I want to give another chance to Jonjo O'Neill's 2014 World Hurdle winner and third in last year's RSA chase More Of That, who was disappointing when pulled up after being sent off the favourite last time out at Cheltenham. That though, was his first run after a 241 day break and even though he was well beaten before his race ended prematurely, hopefully that run will bring him on and he will be better prepared for this contest.

One thing is for sure, he will have to be back to his best if he is to beat the likes of Josses Hill from the Nicky Henderson yard and Paul Nicholl's 2015 Champion Chase winner Dodging Bullets, another who was pulled up last time out. But on his day I think More Of That - remember he is still the only horse to beat Annie Power (apart from when she famously fell of course) - has the ability to beat this field and at 4/1 I am prepared to give him another chance.
