Alan found another winner from his three selections on Saturday and is looking to keep the sequence going with two selections from Fontwell today...
"He is still well weighted on his old form having been rated and won off 100+ four times previously."
The old man in the field at 13-years-old, Double Chocolate seems to have found a new lease of life after having a couple of years off the track and a move from the John O'Shea yard to the Martin Keighley yard. Prior to his move and lay off, he had failed to finish his last three races so something was obviously amiss with the gelding.
Since his return he has won two of his four starts and while he has been put up 13lb for his impressive 23 length victory at Warwick last time out. He is still well weighted on his old form having won off 100+ four times previously. Any sort of reproduction of that Warwick run and he is going to be very difficult to beat.
Over the last 12 months Paul Nicholls has sent 10 horses to Fontwell, six of them have won and three have been placed. One of the horses that has previously won there is looking to make it a hat-trick of wins at the course today. Saint Roque was an impressive 27 length winner over course and distance just last month, that was his second run on the course after also winning on his first appearance over hurdles back in 2013.
Conner O'Farrell gets the leg up and gets on well with the horse, he was doing the steering on his last two wins. The danger in the field looks to come in the shape of Antony from the Jamie Moore yard. He ran a respectable third at Sandown last time out in a better race than this but my concern would be over the trip. Antony has yet to run in a race beyond two and a half miles, if he stays he's a major threat to the selection.
