Bets of the Day: Back below three miles today will suit Beau Sancy

Beau Saucy can get back to winning ways

Alan's best bet of the day obliged yesterday at 5.04/1 and today he has two more from the National Hunt cards at Kelso and Fontwell...

"has had his breathing looked at again, since producing a hat-trick of wins following his previous wind op"

Back Beau Sancy @ 3/1 in the Kelso 15:35

Beau Sancy goes well after a lay off

Kelso 15:35

Since moving from Kenny Johnson to Olly Murphy, Beau Sancy has run five times, winning three.

Prior to starting the winning sequence he had been off the course for 163 days, this time he has had a similar rest (153 days) so he has no problem going fresh. He has obviously improved since moving to this yard and he has had his breathing looked at again, since producing a hat-trick of wins following his previous wind op.

Last time out he went over three miles three furlongs and he possibly didn't stay that trip, today though he is back below three miles and that should be perfect to get him back on track.

Viens Chercher looks the one he will have to beat today, Peter Bowen's eight-year-old charge has the toungue strap on for the first time in his career today after finishing third, beaten five lengths last time out over three miles at Uttoxeter. He never looked like he was travelling well in that race but credit where credit is due he rallied well under pressure to finally finish third. I suspect the tounge tie is being put in place to help him with that today and if it works he is a big danger. But over this trip I much prefer Beau Saucy of the two.

Buster Edwards can steal this from his rivals

Fontwell 16:50

David Pipe's low mileage six-year-old Buster Edwards can deliver back-to-back successes after winning a six runner novice handicap at Fontwell last time by half a length from a decent performer (Et Moi Alors), he will stay this trip all day and is another who responds well when under pressure. This should be a good opportunity for him to gain his second career win, as he is still lightly raced I am not too concerned about the rise in the weights especially the way he won last time.

He is up against Ramore Will from the Chris Gordon yard and while his last win was impressive, that was off 110 today he goes off 116 and his previous highest winning mark was 102. He has never won beyond two miles five furlongs so there could be some stamina issues.

He has plenty to prove at the weights and the trip so I am happy to take him on. A bigger threat, and at a better price, could be Mister Tickle he has shown he is more than good enough in novice races to suggest he may do better now handicapping but he may just find one too good today in the shape of Buster Edwards.
