Alan's best bet of the day managed to find the winning post on the final day of the Ebor festival. Today he is looking to keep the form going with two selections from Yarmouth and Beverley...
"Tyrsal has plenty of form at this track including landing this very race in 2015 and 2016"
Tyrsal has plenty of form at this track including landing this very race in 2015 and 2016. He has been running better of late but he is still without a win since July last year.
However, that lack of success has seen him slide quite a way down the ratings to a mark of 55, that is 1lb lower than his lowest winning mark.
He finished behind a few of these here last time out, but his time is due and he surely can't fall much further down the weights. The three time Yarmouth winner rarely puts in a bad one here and today could well be his turn.
Lunar Deity, Right About Now and Sussex Girl are the obvious ones that he will have to beat after they finished first, second and third over course and distance in the race that Tyrsal finished fifth. But Lunar Diety is 1lb above his highest winning mark and has never won above class 6 company on the turf since 2013.
Right About Now's highest winning mark is 53, he goes off 59 today and Sussex Girl had the services of Silvestre De Sousa in the plate when these last met and no disrespect to Theodore Ladd but he isn't in the same class just yet.
At 5/1 I fancy Tyrsal to get back to winning ways at a track and a race he has done well at so many times.
Ziham is in good form and can go one place better than last time
I like the chances of Roger Fell's four-year-old gelding Zihaam in this one mile four furlong handicap.
He is a course and distance winner who has finished second on two of his last three starts. On his last run he finished second behind the progressive Vision Clear, that was a good run and the handicapper has only raised him a pound. Roger Fell is having a great season and can add to to his winners tally with this son of Dutch Art.
The market favourite is Amazing Michele and looks to be the one to beat, the three-year-old grey filly has been a model of consistency this season for Richard Fahey. She won at Chester by a short head on her second start of the season and has finished third in each race since but her mark of 73 looks about right and she may have to come back down the handicap to help her get back in front again.
