Bets of the Day: Barsanti can make it four in a row at Pontefract
Alan's bet of the day yesterday finished second at 5/1, today in the quest for a winner he is looking at two runners at Pontefract...
"This highly progressive four-year-old has won all three starts in handicaps this season"
Sheikh Mohammed's gelding Barsanti runs at Pontefract today looking to land a four-timer and this versatile type looks to have every chance of achieving it. This highly progressive four-year-old has won all three starts in handicaps this season, an impressive victory at Chelmsford City then further successes at Kempton before switching to the turf last time out at York.
Roger Varian's charge has also now won over one mile two furlongs, one mile three furlongs and today's mile and a half trip and he looks more than capable of being successful in listed company. Despite giving plenty of weight away to the main rivals today, I still fancy Barsanti to continue on this steep upward curve and land the spoils, he's short enough at 11/10 but I still think there is value in taking that price.
Highly Sprung, a winner over six furlongs earlier in his career, drops down a grade after a solid second last time out. Mark Johnson's colt has now finished runner up on two of his last three starts over today's trip, the latest coming at Thirsk when he was no match for an improving winner, Orion's Bow who was completing a hat-trick.
With a good break from an average draw in stall nine, the bang in form Franny Norton can get into a good position and he should be bang there at the finish, with ground conditions set to be ideal.
