Bets of the Day: Mark Johnston's runner is the Subject of attention

A close Ascot finish
Subjectivist has the credentials to take the two-year-old race

"Subjectivist has the pedigree in his breeding and the form book to take a contest like this"

Back Subjectivist @ 5/1 in the 16:15 at Ascot

Alan's best bet yesterday traded at 1.162/13 in running, but just failed to get home. He's hoping for a little more luck with today's bets at Ascot and York...

Subjectivist can see the job out this time

16:15 Ascot - Subjectivist

Mark Johnston's juvenile Subjectivist looks to be a progressive type, he won as he pleased at Chelmsford on his third start, after keeping good company on his other two outings over seven furlongs at Haydock. He finished second on both those occasions, and the two horses that beat him finished first and second in group company, the Superlative Stakes, at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago.

There doesn't look as if there will be much pace on in the race and I suspect it will be Buhturi who will lead and Subjectivist, who usually races close up, should get to just drop in behind him. For anyone that likes the "Back-to-Lay" sort of trading, it's probably worth noting that when he lost his two races at Haydock he traded very short in both (1.041/25 and 1.21/5) and if that's your style, I would imagine he will travel well again and should trade short.

Personally, I will backing him to see the job out this time, he has the pedigree in his breeding and the form book to take a contest like this.

Flying Pursuit is looking to make it three in a row

14:40 York - Flying Pursuit

Flying Pursuit has won the last two renewals of this race and looks to have a decent chance of making it a third for Tim Easterby. He's been running better than the bare result suggests in recent starts, which includes two good runs at this venue, latterly over course and distance. As a result of these performances he has been dropping down the handicap, he was placed off an 8lb higher mark than this back in October and if matching that form, he has every chance of running a big race and would be tough to keep out the frame at an each-way price.

He will need to break well if he is to sit handy, as I suspect the likes of Dakota Gold and Musika won't be hanging about but he stays the trip well, acts on good to firm and clearly likes the course. Make no mistake its a big handicap, with 18 runners currently going to post, but at 7/1 and tghe Betfair Sportsbook offering five places (must be 16 starters) I think he is worthy of an each-way wager.
