Bets of the Day: Nothing but Perfection will do today at Pontefract

Pontefract Racecourse
Everything looks Perfect for a big run at Pontefract

No luck for Alan yesterday but he is looking to get back on track with two selections from Pontefract and Southwell...

"Perfection was beaten just under a length in the Wokingham at Ascot over this trip so shouldn't mind this drop to six..."

Back Perfection @ 9/2 in the 15:30 Pontefract

Perfection should enjoy the drop back to six

15:30 Pontefract - Perfection @ 9/2

David O'Meara is taking a slight drop in class with Perfection this afternoon after being second three times in Group 3 company this season. All three of those runs were over seven furlongs but this stiff six at Pontefract should suit her even better. Her best run came when second behind a Classic winner under today's jockey Silvestre De Sousa at Goodwood earlier this month.

She was also only beaten just under a length in the Wokingham at Ascot over this trip a few weeks previously so shouldn't mind the drop to six furlongs. The four-year-old filly was originally with John Gosden where she won three times including in listed class over six furlongs. Today she runs with a visor instead of her usual cheekpieces and on her best form she looks the one to beat.

Game Line is proven over this trip and will enjoy the return to fences

14:20 Southwell - Game Line @ 6/4

Its hard to see past Game Line in this Handicap Chase here who has really turned the corner this summer. Christian Williams gelding has been well placed by connections to score over both fences and hurdles in July, but it looks like the bigger obstacles are where his long term future lies. He proved he has the stamina for this trip on soft ground last time over hurdles at Perth and with the likelihood of plenty more to come from the five-year-old, who is only 7lb higher than when he first won at Stratford, he can notch his hat-trick on his return today to the larger obstacles.

Stream Lady for David Pipe looks to be the one that will give the selection the most trouble, she is a winning pointer in Ireland and then won on her penultimate start at Plumpton over hurdles, then finished eight lengths third in a race at Uttoxeter last time out that isn't looking the strongest as the winner and second have both run twice and been beaten comfortably. This is her chasing debut and it could be that brings out the best in her but I prefer to stay with Game Line today.
