Bets of the Day: Jamie Spencer will be charging late with Fire Brigade

Jamie Spencer rides Fire Brigade at Leicester today

Alan's selection at Wincanton finished second, beaten by the one horse he feared in the field. Today he has two more selections from Leicester...

"Fire Brigade has yet to win in 2018 from his nine starts but has performed well and placed on a number of occasions. It may well be sooner rather than later before he gets his head in front again."

Fire Brigade can win for the first time in 2018

Leicester 15:05

Fire Brigade has yet to win in 2018 from his nine starts but has performed well and placed on a number of occasions. It may well be sooner rather than later before he gets his head in front again.

This could be an ideal opportunity for him to do just that as Michael Bell's four-year-old lines up in the race he won last year on his only other visit to the track.

Jamie Spencer takes the ride today, just as he did in this race last year and as the master of timing his challenge, this hold up horse will need all his skills. His second place at Ayr last time out in a 12 runner handicap saw him running on well at the finish in heavy going and if the forecasted rain has arrived at Leicester it wouldn't be to his disadvantage. He also has the first time visor on today so everything looks in place for him to win this race again.

It's time Not So Sleepy woke up

Leicester 13:55

Another that has been knocking on the door but not won for some time is Hughie Morrison's ultra consistent six-year-old Not So Sleepy.

He was last beaten by just a neck in a three runner contest here, that was his third runner up finish from his last four appearances. He has now gone 12 runs since his last win, which was in 2017. Today though, he gets in here 1lb below his last winning rating, the going should be perfect for him and he should get the race run to suit with a decent pace on offer. He is well overdue a visit to the winners enclosure and today could just be his turn.

I am expecting two of the fancied runners to take each other on trying to lead, in the shape of Hochfeld and Aasheq and that should setup the race perfectly for Not So Sleepy to catch and pass them in the latter stages of the race.
