Bets of the Day: Dusky Lark is back off a fair mark at Huntingdon

Alan found his third winner in three days yesterday and is showing a healthy profit for the week so far. Today with a wealth of Bank Holiday racing to choose from he has two selections at Huntingdon and Fakenham...

"The race last time out looked a better race than this and the third that day Cloudy Bob has since come out and won."

Colin Tizzard and his team are in fine form at the minute with a couple of winners over the weekend, and I still can't help thinking about what could have been if Cue Card had stayed on his feet in the Gold Cup. He didn't and that's history now. Back to today at Huntingdon they run Dusky Lark off a mark just a pound higher than when the six-year-old last won.

He was disappointing at Ascot in December, where he was pulled up, and in his last run at this track in January he was 48 lengths away from the winner. Both those runs were on soft ground, in his last start over two mile four on good to soft ground he was much better finishing fourth behind Ericht at Kempton. That Kempton race looked stronger than this and the third that day Cloudy Bob has since come out and won.

Daryl Jacob gets the leg up today and he knows the horse very well. Jacob was on board for his only two wins to date. I think he will enjoy the ground today, and back off a fair mark and at 3/1 in this small field he could be the one to be on.

15:25 Fakenham - Gin and Tonic @ 3/1 Sportsbook

Taking a slight drop in class today Gin and Tonic could be ready to claim his third win for Michael Wigham. He ran a respectable fifth last time out at Fakenham after an 89 day break off the course and that might just be enough to get him ready for this event.

Ryan Hatch is also taking a handy three pounds off to give him an even better chance in this Novice Handicap. The favourite and one to beat appears to be Maid of Tuscanny, I am happy to take her on with Gin and Tonic at 3/1. Maid of Tuscanny only won a seller a couple of starts ago and has been hit with a seven pound rise in the weights, which may just be enough to anchor the mare.
