Bets of the Day: Jim Crowley to get a good tune out of Sixties Groove today

Its Monday, its summer so that can only mean Windsor Races
Its Monday, its summer so that can only mean Windsor Races

Another two placed selections from Alan yesterday but nothing in the winners enclosure. Today he has a selection from Windsor and two from Southwell looking to get that elusive winner...

"Winning in style at Kempton last time out on handicap debut, when quickening away nicely before being eased close home and there certainly looks like there could be more to come."

20:20 Windsor - Sixties Groove @ 10/3 Sportsbook

Sixties Groove was successful over this trip when winning in style at Kempton last time out on handicap debut, when quickening away nicely before being eased close home and there certainly looks like there could be more to come from Jeremy Noseda's three-year-old colt. The Noseda team have a great record at Windsor in recent times and boast a very decent 25% strike rate with three-year-old's.

While this is a stronger race than his Kempton victory and the handicapper seen fit to raise him 8lb for just a a length victory last time out, he is really getting his act together now and despite the hefty penalty, with regular pilot Jim Crowley in the plate I think the unexposed colt can go in again.

15:45 Southwell - Miss Sassypants @ 4/1 Sportsbook

Seamus Mullins runs Miss Sassypants at Southwell this afternoon, where the seven-year-old mare is hoping to win the race she won last year. Since that victory she has been running well in some decent company albeit without managing to get her head back in front again. She returned from a 200 day break to run a decent race last month and is off a mark that should makes her competitive.

Maid Of Tuscany sets the standard in the race and has obvious claims after winning well at Fontwell three weeks ago but she looks to have been treated quite harshly by the handicapper and I am not sure I would want to be backing her at half the price of Miss Sassypants.

17:15 Southwell - Perfect Summer @ 5/4 Sportsbook

I am not sure about it being a Perfect Summer yet, but if this wins then it will certainly go some way to improving the summer. She will require another career best performance in her quest to complete a hat-trick after a clear cut victory and Aintree last time. But, this does look a good opportunity as the race doesn't appear to lack much depth and therefore the three timer beckons. Both her wins this season have come on ground with good in the description and the forecast going will suit Ian Williams charge again today.

A winner at two miles and two and half miles, the six-year-old mare is proven over today's trip and I think will take all the beating, with blinkers reapplied in an attempt to squeeze some more improvement out of her. She carries a six pound penalty for a five length victory last time but the more than capable claiming jockey Toby Wheeler with his 8lb claim takes over in the plate.
