Alan Dudman returns for Monday's racing with two bets at Plumpton and Windsor - with one sure to test the nerves...
"She still looked green when picking up impressively to score by four-and-a-half lengths, so there's every reason to believe there is more improvement to come as she goes handicapping from a mark of 84. She could potentially be quite useful."
15:00 Plumpton - Back Herecomesthetruth
Low grade flat racing will never quite have the same thrill (for me anyway) as low grade jumps action, and this race sums up why these contests can be so enjoyable.
Herecomesthetruth is an old rogue, who completely pulled himself up at Fontwell last time when six lengths clear. Unsurprisingly he was matched at [1.01] in the market as he was nabbed in the final stages of the race. But he did win by a distance at Huntingdon previously - and for all his quirks he is running well.
Be prepared for his party trick though - he'll idle and wait for something to join him.
To add to the fun, Dancing Dik hates being headed, and he needs to make the running. Houseparty has refused this season with his owner describing him as "not the bravest." And Rebel High has a career record of 0-35.
There are massive risks attached in backing Chris Gordon's 13-year-old, but he likes the ground, is in form and he'll travel well. Just hide behind the sofa at the end of the race, and don't be afraid to chuck in the [1.01] lay.
A horse I have given far too many chances to this season runs here, but I won't be backing Burano - even though he is dropping down in grade to a 0-85.
I will concentrate on the batch of lightly-raced three-year-olds instead, and Wild Storm appeals the most.
The filly only raced once as a juvenile, and made her seasonal reappearance over course and distance back in April. It's a worry that she hasn't been seen before this race, but there's every possibility she could have been earmarked as one of the many Godolphin horses that could make hay over the winter on the all-weather.
The form of the maiden win doesn't read particularly well, but she hammered those behind. She still looked green when picking up impressively to score by four-and-a-half lengths, so there's every reason to believe there is more improvement to come as she goes handicapping from a mark of 84. She could potentially be quite useful.
