One of Alan's selections was unfortunately a non-runner yesterday and his best bet of the day was beaten at Navan. He is looking to get back in the winners' enclosure today with selections from Hexham and Huntingdon...
"Gibbstown just loves Hexham racecourse, she has raced here four times before and won three of them"
Paul Stafford's mare Gibbstown just loves Hexham racecourse, she has raced here four times before and won three of them. Her last victory here over course and distance, she just had to pushed out when beating Flaming Thistle by five lengths and The Bishop who was a further 16 lengths away in fifth.
Gibbstown has received a 9lb rise for that victory but today's jockey Jonathan Moore is claiming 5lbs. Moore doesn't get many mounts and may not of rode a winner this year, but from his 11 rides at this track he has won three and been placed in four. Gibbstown certainly won't have any problems with the ground, her last five starts in heavy going she has been placed in all five, winning two.
Alan King's lightly raced nine-year-old The Mumper won on his penultimate start at Market Rasen when he beat Pandy Wells (for the second time) by seven lengths. He then ran well at Exeter over the same trip, finishing third, beaten just to and half lengths off the same mark (109) as he runs today.
He has still only had seven starts over fences and has put in some decent efforts since falling at Fontwell in December. Wayne Hutchinson is on top again today and I am sure he will give another very good account for himself at 3/1 I think he is more than a fair price.
