Alan Dudman's main selection yesterday failed to win - despite hitting 1.05 in-running at Ripon. Monday's picks come from Redcar and Kempton...
"He raced last time over 3m at Warwick, but he's not a three miler and he unseated in the latter stages of the race when held. But back over 2m4f on good ground should really suit."
15:55 Redcar - Hopelessly devoted to Olivia for sprint
Clearly a fan of Olivia Newton-John from my headline, but also Olivia Fallow - who lines up in one of the best races at Redcar on Monday - a 5f handicap.
This will be the quickest ground seen this season at the northern venue (the first of the term was run in gruelling conditions), and the livelier the surface the better for my selection.
The four-year-old could be set for a decent campaign given her progressive profile last season; with two victories and two seconds. She rounded off 2015 with a nice performance at Thirsk when taking out a 0-85 three-year-old handicap.
Her trainer Paul Midgley gained his first win for an absolute age on Saturday with Mr Orange, and we know what a dab hand he is with his sprinters.
And whilst there are a couple of big dangers, in particular Soul Brother - this race should suit Olivia Fallow down to the ground with pace to aim at. She could still have more to come from a mark of 86.
16:05 Kempton - Time for Bally Lagan to come good
Trainer Robin Dickin had a fairly quiet time of things over the winter, but some decent summer ground at Kempton could help the yard's Bally Lagan.
Racing from a mark of 83, this character is a touch frustrating to put it mildly. Those with good memories might recall him running all over dear old Flichity at Uttoxeter in 2014 - and despite hitting 1.14 in-running, the horse somehow engineered a defeat. His record over fences reads 1-13 with several placed efforts.
And with four other in-play losses in his career (1.41, 1.48, 1.40 and 1.33), we know this horse can travel well and has a bit of ability at this sort of level.
He raced last time over 3m at Warwick, but he's not a three miler and he unseated in the latter stages of the race when held. But back over 2m4f on good ground should really suit.
Whilst you might want to put up a short in-running lay, he looks good for an each-way bet.
