Kaafy to break through
14:00 Hamilton - Kaafy
Kaafy is taken to get off the mark in this sprint handicap for three-year-olds.
This colt put in a better effort when finishing second to Fox Hill at Catterick earlier this month. He ran on well inside the final furlong, but could not get to grips with the game winner. There appears to be plenty of pace in the race which will benefit his racing style. He will be played late, and should be able to take advantage of a strongly run affair. At present he is trading at 7.26/1.
Fox Hill had the run of the race when beating the selection last time, but is worse off at the weights and I am not certain the extra yardage will benefit him today. He is priced at 4.84/1 on the exchange.
Emperor to rule
15:30 Hamilton - The Last Emperor
The Last Emperor should go close in this selling contest.
This gelding has been switching between codes this season, but his best effort came in a Curragh handicap where he finished fifth to War Diary in July. He kept on well in the closing stages, but failed to deliver a challenge. He was not beaten all that far, and ran creditably off a mark of 85. The drop to selling company is significant for this Irish raider. He is the clear form pick and has enough recent form to suggest he will take this. I suspect he will trade shorter near the off but is currently 3.02/1.
Set In Stone is another that will benefit from the ease in grade. He finished a distant second to Sarvi in a handicap over this course last month and is a three time course winner. He's at 5.04/1.
