No good at Sedgefield for Alan yesterday but he looks to get back to winning ways with a couple from Hereford and Plumpton...
"two pipe openers so far this season, he has been dropped 2lbs by the handicapper as a result and should strip fitter for those runs today"
This may be a tight looking handicap but I think it could be between the two at the top of the market Snapdragon Fire and All Is Good and it is the Robin Dickin charge that I favour more today. He has has two "pipe openers" so far this season, finishing fifth at Warwick last time out and has been dropped 2lbs by the handicapper as a result, he should strip fitter for those runs and with plenty of overnight market support he can take this with Charlie Poste in the saddle.
He ran well well in two novice hurdles at Market Rasen last spring, beaten five length second in March and then just a length and a quarter third toward the end of April. This race looks a lot less competitive and the Dickin team are in great form with a 50% strike rate over the last two weeks
The obvious threat to the selection is the top weight Snapdragon Fire ridden by Richard Johnson, but he is yet to win after three races over hurdles and just keeps finding one too good. He has plenty of good placed efforts to his name and may only have been beaten a length and three quarters over further at Newcastle last time but he did lead coming over the last and still managed to find a way to get beat. He makes his handicap debut here and hopefully today All Is Good can be the one that gets the better of him today.
Olly Murphy's charge Saucysioux has now won three of her five starts since arriving from David Roberts, and all with relative ease. Her winning distances have been by 21 lengths, 17 lengths and 14 lengths she has of course been put up another 13lbs for those wins which will obviously make life more difficult but I am not sure the handicapper has quite caught up with her yet and she has the capable Fergus Gregory in the plate taking 6lbs back off.
Her main threat may be Tambura who is undoubtedly well weighted having scored over course and distance in November 2016 off five pounds higher, but she has looked out of sorts so far this season which has to be a concern. But the way in which Saucysioux has annihilated her opposition recently its hard to oppose her and I think she may still have enough in hand to make it four in a row today.
