Bets Of The Day: Danny can be the champion of Haydock on Saturday

Betfair Chase
Alan Dudman is looking forward to a magnificent day of racing at Haydock

It's Betfair Chase day at Haydock on Saturday, and fresh from a winner, Alan Dudman is seeking success in the north west with a couple of tasty priced selections...

"He scored last time over hurdles, is fit, acts on decent ground and has the services of the highly-rated Danny McMenamin in the saddle. He guided home Nietzsche last week at Cheltenham like an old pro."

Back Takingrisks @ 9.08/1 in the 15:35 Haydock

Garo to go close at double-figure odds

13:50 Haydock - Back Garo De Juilley @ 14/1 Sportsbook price

This looks a really competitive handicap, although the official description of good changes the complexion somewhat. Here we are in nearly December (and my Barbers' had the Christmas lights on today), yet we are likely to see fairly decent ground.

The surface should play to the strengths of Garo De Juilley here, and I think he's underrated in the market at 14/1 with the Sportsbook.

He has always threatened to win a good pot, and he did last time when landing the Silver Trophy at Chepstow. He had some good horses behind him and scored in taking fashion from a mark of 134. Yes, the run of the race might have suited, but he won well.

With a rise of 4lb, there's still scope from that rating as he is a very strong traveller. His trainer Sophie Leech is excellent, and she has displayed her talents time and time again with Man Of Plenty in some big Saturday races, so hopefully she can land this one with Garo De Juilley.

Rising star can showcase talent again

15:35 Haydock - Back Takingrisks @ 9.08/1

I couldn't quite believe Takingrisks was the price he was on Friday evening. A few other people shared the same thoughts too, as the 9/1 was snapped up sharpish.

However, Takingrisks ticks plenty of boxes for me in this and he is well worth a punt.

This trip of 3m2f should really suit as all this horse does is stay. He scored last time over hurdles, is fit, acts on decent ground and has the services of the highly-rated
Danny McMenamin in the saddle. He guided home Nietzsche last week at Cheltenham like an old pro, and 7lb with him at the moment is a gift.

He returns to fences after his spin recently over the smaller obstacles. That was his first run for five months, so he there's a chance he can improve again.
