Nick Shiambouros started the week with two winners from Plumpton. Nick hopes to bag two more from the competitive card at Exeter...
"He kept on really well in the closing stages, and finished the race willingly"
Cat on the prowl
13:10 Exeter - Cat Tiger
Cat Tiger should prove difficult to beat in this novices' hurdle.
This gelding finished second to Old Jeroboam on his UK debut at Worcester last month. He attempted to make all, but was collared on the run-in and had to settle for a place. He has some outstanding form in France over the larger obstacles, notably when winning a Grade 3 chase at Auteuil last year. The longer trip should benefit him enormously, and is reasonably priced at 2.588/5 on the exchange.
Unwin Vc is the obvious danger. He was narrowly beaten by Truckers Lodge over this course in March, and has attracted support at 3.55 on the exchange. I think the selection is a cut above and may have to settle for a place again.
Harry the big improver
13:40 Exeter - Harry Senior
Harry Senior is my idea of the winner of this interesting contest.
This gelding caught the eye when finishing fourth to Ofalltheginjoints at Chepstow last month. He kept on really well in the closing stages, and finished the race willingly. I thought that was a super effort and significant improvement is likely. The third placed horse has since won giving the form a boost. At present he is trading at 5.14/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Sporting John heads the market at 3.39/4 on the exchange. After winning an Irish Point on debut he changed hands for a significant amount, and makes his Rules debut today. He will probably need further, but must be respected given high profile connections.
