Bets of the Day: Eneko can lead this small field all the way to the winning post

At the prices I would rather be on Enko than the odds on favourite

Alan Thompson returns to the tipping chair and looks to get his week off to a good starts with two selections from Wetherby and Newmarket...

"He’s completely unexposed has conditions to suit and he should come on plenty for that Perth run"

Back Enecko @ 3/1 in the 14:00 Wetherby

14:00 Wetherby - Back Enecko @ 3/1

Although only four go to post, this is a fascinating Listed race with all the runners looking very promising juveniles. The market is strongly in the favour of Paul Nicholls charge Malay, who has already tasted listed success in her native France and is a very worthy favourite because of that, she is also getting a favourable weight allowance making her very much the one to beat.

However, I really liked the look of Eneko who got his head in front on British/Hurdling debut for Keith Dalgleish back in September, winning comfortably at Perth on heavy ground. He's completely unexposed has conditions to suit and he should come on plenty for that Perth run, he could prove tough to pass as I suspect he may try to make every furlong post a winning one, with his front running style. Obviously he has a tough task on his hands against the already proven Malay, but at 3/1 I think he has to be given a chance in a race that he could dominate.

15:30 Newmarket - Back Sunblazer Each Way @ 8/1

There are nine runners going to post at the time of writing and therefore I think that Kim Bailey's Sunblazer represents an excellent each way betting opportunity at 8/1. The seven-year-old grey has been far more productive on the all weather than turf, six of his seven victories coming on the surface. After a couple of mediocre efforts he bounced back to form last time at Kempton and if he can build on that perfomance he should be bang there come the business end considering he is allowed to race of the same mark (82).

He has dropped far enough down the ratings now to be a threat again, he has a more than capable 5lb claimer in Joshua Bryan on his back and steps back up in distance, which will also play to his strengths. Three of his seven wins have come from trips of two miles or more, including a class 4 hurdle victory, so his stamina shouldn't be an issue.

Recommended Bets:

Back Enecko @ 3/1 in the 14:00 Wetherby
Back Sunblazer Each Way @ 8/1 in the 15:30 Newmarket
