Bets of the Day: Mystikana can come from off the pace to pick these up

Marcus Tregoning may have found a weak handicap for Mystikana to score

Alan Thompson is back today hoping to build on his winning week last time, he is starting with two on the all weather from the afternoon meeting at Lingfield and the evening meeting at Wolverhampton...

"Providing she settles well and doesn't burn all her energy she could well improve enough to score."

Back Mystikana @ 11/4 in the 14:20 at Lingfield

14:20 Lingfield - Back Mystikana @ 11/4

Marcus Tregoning runs his four-year-old filly in this weak looking handicap. Mystikana didn't run her best race last time out at Kempton where she ran far too keenly early at Kemton last time, before being outpaced and then started running on again all too late at the end. There should be a couple that will lead here and give her something to follow and providing she settles well and doesn't burn all her energy she could well improve enough to score.

Her only win to date has come at Lingfield over this trip and a repeat of that performance off today's mark off 66 should see her go very close. She has her regular partner on board in the shape of the handy 7lb claimer Tyler Saunders and is wearing a tongue tie for the first time. The current market leader Goodbye Inheritance is still a maiden after 15 starts and was last of eight behind Mystikana at Kempton last time, I want to take him on and I think Mystikana is the one to do it with.

19:45 Wolverhampton - Back Lord Cooper @ 6/4

Brazilian trainer Jose Santos may not have the biggest stable in Lambourn but Lord Cooper has already won for him twice and looks set to make it a hat-trick. Both wins came over six furlongs on the polytrack and his latest victory looked a shade easy, he won at Kempton after being backed into favourite and although he carries a 6lb penalty for that success. However, David Parkes 5lb allowance negates that rise.

This is his first run on the tapeta surface but providing he acts on it he could be much better than these. There are bigger questions to be answered about some of the other fancied runners, Lord Cooper had Jet Setter back in fourth place at Kempton and I see no reason why he could reverse that form and Bourbonisto drops back in trip and will probably need the run returning from a 112-day absence. I think Lord Cooper will take plenty of stopping tonight.
