Bets of the Day: Nemoralia hard to oppose at York

Nemoralia's class will be too much today

Alan Thompson returns to the tipping chair today and he has two selections from the very competitive day 3 of the Ebor meeting at York...

Jeremy Noseda will be hoping the rain stays away from the Knavesmire today for his Coronation Stakes runner-up Nemoralia. She won here impressively, earlier this year when powering away to win by six lengths under Frankie Detorri. She is the class act in the field, and with Jamie Spencer already having a couple of winners at the meeting,if the ground stays fast its hard to see what can beat her.

She may have disappointing a bit when she took on the colts at Chantilly recently but I am not sure conditions showed her at her best that day. The faster the ground the better she is, which makes her second in the Coronation Stakes on good to soft ground look even more impressive. The Noseda team have swerved the Hungerford Stakes in favour of this event and provided the rain that is forecast isn't substantial I don't expect her to go home empty handed.

13:55 York - Sindarban @ 10/1 Each Way Sportsbook

Keith Dagleish's charge is not only his only runner at the meeting, but he is his only runner of the day and the Paul and Clare Rooney owned five-year-old should not feel out of place in this mile and a half opener. He moved to the Dalgleish yard after running over hurdles for Donald McCain, winning on his first two starts on the flat for his new trainer, I am prepared to forgive him for his effort last time out where he didn't produce his best over ground that was described as good at Newbury.

Six career starts on the flat, he has only missed out on place money on one occasion. While this is undoubtedly a step up in class for the gelding, the double figure price looks too attractive to leave behind. Drawn nine of the 15 runners he is on the right side of the draw and Philip Makin will look to get him handy early, then hopefully see him power home in those now familiar, on the flat as well as the jumps, blue and yellow quartered colours.
