Nick Shiambouros is back with two selections from the Thursday card at Belmont Park...
"Trainer Dermot Magner does not have a large string, but is a rising star"
Creed to win again
Race 6 20:59 Belmont Park - Creed
Creed looks like the horse to beat in this $80k optional claimer on the main track.
This well related son of Honor Code put in a much improved effort when winning a Maiden Special Weight over this course last month. He made a strong move rounding the home turn, and drew well clear in the straight to win with complete authority. This was a super effort from this likeable individual, and there is a lot more to come. Trainer Shug McGaughey is having a great meeting with a 28% strike rate. At present he is trading at [2.88], and have backed him at that price.
Herwaze to graduate
Race 9 22:36 Belmont Park - Herwaze
Herwaze is an interesting runner in this $40k maiden claimer on the inner turf.
This filly caught the eye on debut when finishing fourth in a similar race at Aqueduct last November. She held every chance at the entrance to the straight, but weakened when the pace lifted. She did not look fully wound up, and the experience will not be lost on her. Trainer Dermot Magner does not have a large string, but is a rising star. Magner worked for John Gosden, Todd Pletcher and Chad Brown before going out on his own. I think this filly is open to a fair bit of improvement, and should be backed around [5.0] on the exchange.
