Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with two selections from Ascot and Ffos Las...
"His form in France reads well in the context of this race and I am expecting a big run"
Fred to fire
13:30 Ascot - Fred
Fred should open his account in this interesting maiden hurdle.
This gelding created a favourable impression on his UK debut when finishing third to Heaven Help at Cheltenham last month. He put in some good work in the closing stages, but could not get to grips with the front two. The longer trip should suit him down to the ground, and I am expecting a much improved effort. At present he is trading at 2.6813/8 on the exchange.
Papa Tango Charly merits consideration. This Irish point winner was not disgraced in a bumper on Rules debut, and should have more to offer. At present he is trading at 6.05/1 on the exchange.
Desque for Venetia
13:40 Ffos Las - Desque De L'Isle
I am going to side with Desque De L'Isle in this novices' hurdle.
This gelding finished down the field behind Silver Hallmark at Chepstow earlier this month. He attempted to make all, but began to feel the strain two from home and was easily brushed aside. This was his first run after a three year absence and in the circumstances shaped well. Trainer Venetia Williams has exercised a great deal of patience with him, and hopefully this French import can reward her with a victory. His form in France reads well in the context of this race and I am expecting a big run. At present he is trading at 6.86/1 on the exchange.
College Oak is the obvious danger. He made all to win a bumper at Sedgfield last month, and will likely make a bold bid on hurdles debut. At present he is trading at 2.166/5 on the exchange.
