Nick Shiambouros struck again yesterday when his selection Babbo's Boy won. Nick returns with two strong fancies from the super card at Ascot...
"She has a super pedigree and is out of a Dam that was Listed placed in her short four race career"
Fashion a Star in the making
14:50 Ascot - Fashion's Star
Fashion's Star should make her presence felt in this fascinating contest.
This filly caught the eye on debut when beating Roxy Art at Newbury last September. She took the lead inside the final furlong, and quickly put the issue beyond doubt. She has a super pedigree and is out of a Dam that was Listed placed in her short four race career. I believe she is open to significant improvement, and can take this race before moving on to better things. At present she is trading at 4.84/1 on the exchange.
Queen Power is another beautifully bred filly. She also won on debut beating Duneflower in a maiden at HQ last October. She is the main danger , and is the current favourite at 3.052/1 on the exchange.
Barney is back
16:25 Ascot - Barney Roy
I cannot oppose Barney Roy in his comeback race, after fertility issues curtailed his stallion career.
He has since been gelded and now resumes racing in this fascinating Listed contest. This smart performer won the Group1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2017. He finished second in the 2,000 Guineas and third in the Juddmonte International. Needless to say he has rock solid credentials and receives weight from three of his rivals. At present he is trading at 2.3211/8 on the exchange.
Wadilsafa is the second choice in the market at 5.04/1. He put in a much improved effort when beating Hathal in a Listed race at Sandown last September. He should have more to offer, but will be playing for a place if the selection brings anything close to his best.
