Nick Shiambouros returns with a double and a decent priced selection from the card at Ascot...
"That was a solid effort and has scope for plenty of improvement"
It Sure Is the one
It Sure Is should prove difficult to beat in this interesting maiden hurdle.
This Irish point winner caught the eye on Rules debut when finishing second to the talented Sevarano. He put in some good work in the closing stages, and finished the race willingly. There was a lot to like about this performance, and should take this on his way to better things. At present he is trading at 2.01/1 on the Sportsbook. I am going to back him in a double with Ribble Valley in the 14:30.
Ribble super tough
Ribble Valley is very much the horse to beat in this high class contest.
This talented performer was most impressive when beating Sir Valentine at Wetherby last month. He swept to the front three from home, and pulled clear to win with any amount in hand. Trainer Nicky Richards does not send horses down south for fun, and I fully expect him to deliver. He remains an exciting prospect and is the second part of the double at 4/5 on the Sportsbook.
Back this Butte
15:40 Ascot - Butte Montana
I am going to take a chance with Butte Montana in this Listed bumper. I rarely punt in these races but opportunities are limited today. Having said that, this gelding caught the eye on debut when finishing second to Time Flies By at Cheltenham in October. He took the lead a furlong from home, but the winner proved the stronger near the line. That was a solid effort and has scope for plenty of improvement. At present he is trading at 7.26/1 on the exchange.
